Shure SM57 mic with BBE 386 preamp

Will this setup work (Shure SM57 mic with a BBE 386 preamp) and will it give a good input recording level into a computer interface that is equipped with Realtek sound card? My understanding is that no phantom power required for dynamic mics.

Check your preamp

Dave,

I don't know much about the BBE 386 preamp. From a quick web search, it looks like it is a guitar specific preamp, so I honestly don't know how it will work. I would expect you might get something through that would be of sufficient level, but it easily may be different. I think that a specific microphone preamp would give you better results, as you might find at zZounds.com.
