Panning with ORTF

I'm using two cardioid mics in ORTF setup into two channels of a mixer. What is the correct setting for the pan control of each channel? Does using a mixer with a pan control acheive different result than using a dedicated mic pre?

Just pan them opposite

Hi John,

Using two mics and panning it for stereo is simple - just pan the two tracks hard left and hard right. This means that in a two speaker setup, one channel comes exclusively from one side, and vice versa for the other channel.

About using a mic pre to do it; I'm not sure that will work. A preamp works on a single channel, and thus has no option to pan left or right.
